StreamWrangler is a household TV and movie tracker for families who watch a lot, on a lot of different services, and want to know what everyone’s into without an awkward Sunday-night argument over the remote. Browse what’s trending, save shows to a shared watchlist, mark episodes off as you go, and see at a glance who’s mid-season on what.
What it does
- Watchlist & episode tracking — save shows and movies, mark episodes watched, watch the status dots (Active, Pending, Cancelled, Movie) tell you at a glance which shows are still going.
- Family Activity — opt-in shared feed that shows what household members are watching and what they’ve finished. Family-member identities (Ron, Jolene, Kimberly, Alaysa, Kids, Guests, or a custom name and photo) let you attribute viewing without making a separate account for every kid.
- Trending and recommended — modules-driven home feed pulls trending TV and movies from TMDB, with thoughtful sections like “Couples Comedy” and tonight’s live ticker.
- Trailer previews — every hero banner plays a contextual trailer from YouTube right inside the App.
- Watch Now deep links — Watchmode tells us which streaming service has the title, and we hand you off to the right app with one tap.
- Trakt sync (optional) — if you already track in Trakt, link once and your history flows in.
- Guest mode — browse without an account; your preferred streamers and hide-anime preference save locally on your device.
Privacy is the default, not the upsell
- No advertising. Ever. No banners, no pop-ups, no “sponsored row” pretending to be a recommendation. The user has been explicit and we’re explicit too.
- Local-first for guests. No account, no sync, no backend record.
- Firebase-backed for registered users — your watchlist and Family Activity follow you across devices, scoped strictly to your account UID by Firestore Security Rules.
- One-tap account deletion in Settings → Account → Delete Account & Wipe Data, mirrored by a public deletion URL.
- No analytics SDKs. No advertising ID. No device-identifier collection.
- Open about what we share — see the Privacy Policy for the full list of every third-party service (TMDB, Watchmode, Trakt, Firebase, YouTube) and exactly what data goes to each one.
Designed for the household
- Family-member identities tied to a single parent account — no separate logins for kids; COPPA-friendly by design.
- Status dots in red / yellow / green / blue tell you whether a show is still on, on hiatus, or wrapped up.
- A calm Brand Blue / Deep Blue / Gold palette that doesn’t fight the posters it’s framing.
- Sentence case for prose, title case for data labels — the same typography discipline the studio uses everywhere.
Premium (forthcoming)
A Premium tier is planned at $4.99/mo or $39/yr. It will unlock the magic — instant Watch Now resolution, advanced badges, real cross-account family groups, priority support. The free tier stays generous and stays ad-free.
Status
StreamWrangler is in development, preparing for an Internal testing build. The current architecture is documented in the project’s CLAUDE.md; the queue is tracked in DEVELOPMENT_LOG.md. No public release date yet — when we’re closer, this status badge will change.
